Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
Prepare the dough: Lightly flour a work surface and roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
Brush with olive oil: Lightly brush the dough with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. This helps prevent the crust from becoming soggy.
Pre-bake the crust: Bake the crust for 8–10 minutes, or until it is lightly golden.
Add the sauce: Remove the crust from the oven and spread the marinara or pizza sauce evenly over the surface.
Add the cheese and zucchini: Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Arrange the zucchini slices in a single layer over the cheese.
Season: Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes, if using, over the zucchini. Season with salt and pepper.
Bake the pizza: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Garnish and serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve warm.
